PAMIL-CFA Webiserye

PAMIL-CFA MIL Webiserye is a series of webinars aimed at mainstreaming Media and Information Literacy in the daily conversations of Filipino citizens who consume and produce media messages and information. This goal can be achieved by discussing topics or issues on how the MIL knowledge, skills, and attitude will play a very crucial role for citizens to make informed decisions

In celebration of Global MIL Week 2021 and National MIL Month. The PAMIL-CFA Webiserye conducted its first webisode titled “Managing Mental Health and Digital Wellness for Educators, Catechists, and Sunday School Teachers amidst Pandemic” which was held on October 30, 2021 (Saturday) from 10:00 AM -12:00 NN via Zoom video conferencing and Facebook Live and YouTube Livestream via PAMIL and CFA Facebook pages and accounts. The webisode is open to all, especially educators, school administrators, catechists, and Sunday school teachers.

The education sector in the Philippines is greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The quarantine protocols and the no face-to-face policy due to the pandemic have forced teachers, school administrators, catechists, and Sunday school teachers to adopt emergency remote teaching. The current pandemic and the adoption of new modalities in teaching have resulted in issues like online fatigue and mental stress among learners and educators as well not only in formal education but also in Catechism and Sunday schools provided by the different churches in the Philippines. Below are the specific objectives of the webinar:

  1. Discuss how teachers, school administrators, catechists, and Sunday school teachers can manage their mental health and digital wellness while in remote teaching during the pandemic;
  2. identify practical self-care tips that educators should intentionally practice in order to maintain positive mental health and digital wellness amidst the pandemic; and
  3. promote positive mental health and digital wellness at home and at the workplace by applying the practical self-care tips learned in the webinar.

The distinguished guest speaker for this webisode is Ma. Gia B. Sison, MD, DPCOM, who is a practicing medical doctor specializing in Occupational Medicine and is a graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas. She is currently the Head of Makati Medical Center’s Wellness Center.
